One can't help but wonder what would happen to Mexico if a Marxist took over as president and led that country into a communist state. How would it affect the United States? Would we soon find ourselves with myriad fifth columnists in the guise of roofing workers and tomato pickers? Would Fidel Castro become 'Godfather exemplar' to the ocean of poor in Mexico?
Communist revolutions have resulted in the imprisonment and death of many millions whose political stance, education and wealth caused envy and also in the 'gulaging' of those educators and intellectuals whose beliefs and writings came into conflict with the new junta. Could the US stand by and watch such horrors take place just a short distance south of our border? Could we stop it? Is having the relief valve of illegal immigration available to millions of desperate Mexicans worth staving off this descent into the abyss? Our president seems to think it is.
